Experience in All Phases of Burn Care
Temple’s 10-bed Burn Center offers a skilled team of surgeons and support staff who are experienced in all phases of burn care — from time of injury and reconstructive care to rehabilitation and beyond. It's one of the region’s only burn centers at a Level 1 trauma center and one that is verified by the American Burn Association and the American College of Surgeons.
The center is led by Lisa Rae, MD, FACS, who is fellowship trained in burn surgery and trauma and critical care. The care team also includes other surgeons, burn nurses, burn technicians, physical, occupational and respiratory therapists, psychologists and nutritionists. Working as a team, these professionals offer their patients the most advanced burn care available.
A Regional Leader for Over 20 Years
Founded more than 20 years ago, the Temple Burn Center was the first in Philadelphia to be located at an academic medical center. Today, it cares for more patients with burns than any other center in the region. This includes hundreds of patients who are admitted to the burn unit each year and hundreds more who are treated as outpatients.
Temple Burn Center doctors and other personnel are active researchers who both pioneer and test the latest technology and treatments in burn care. Members of the medical team also work with patients and their families to educate them about their care.
