At the Temple Burn Center, care goes far beyond medical treatment. Burn recovery often involves emotional healing and social connection — and our dedicated psychologists and social workers are here to support patients and their families every step of the way.
Burn Survivor Support
Monthly Support Group
One of the most valued resources for our patients is the Temple Burn Center Burn Survivor Support Group, which meets on the second Thursday of every month.
Each session is moderated by a licensed psychologist and often features guest speakers who share insights on topics such as:
- Emotional wellness and coping strategies
- Skin and scar care
- Nutrition and self-care
- Community resources for survivors and caregivers
Participants include burn survivors at every stage of recovery — from current inpatients to those in outpatient rehabilitation or long-term recovery — offering a range of experiences and shared understanding.
The group also hosts special gatherings and holiday celebrations, giving members an opportunity to connect, share progress, and offer encouragement in a supportive environment.
Individual Support Through Phoenix SOAR
Temple has joined with Phoenix Survivors Offering Assistance in Recovery (SOAR) to connect survivors with other survivors or loved ones who have experienced a similar trauma. In addition to our monthly support groups, SOAR offers an opportunity to join a community of survivors, loved ones, and burn professionals committed to empowering the burn community.
If you would like to be connected with a peer supporter, please contact the Burn Center.
