Appointments and Accolades

Mathew Lammi, MD (class of 2012) is an Associate Professor of Medicine and the Director of the Comprehensive Pulmonary Hypertension Center at the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans.

He was recently awarded a Department of Defense grant for a research in “Sildenafil for Early Pulmonary Vascular Disease in Scleroderma.”

Alejandra Lastra, MD (class of 2015) is the Director of the Sleep Medicine Fellowship Program at the The University of Chicago, Department of Medicine. She is the President-Elect of the Illinois Sleep Society and the Vice-Chair of the Educational Committee for the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM).

She recently published a case series of patients with severe Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Obesity Hypoventilation Syndrome in the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32713421/). Dr. Lastra is also the 2020-2021 Fellow for the Rush Public Voices with the OpEd project.

Aditi Satti, MD (class of 2008) was promoted to Professor of Medicine at the Department of Thoracic Medicine and Surgery, Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University in the summer of 2020. She has been featured as one the Top Doctors in Pulmonary Disease in Philadelphia magazine for 3 consecutive years (2018-2020).

She has a 5-year NIH R01 grant for research on “Predicting Sleep, Smoking and Lung Health Disparities in at-risk Black African American Adults.” She was also awarded a 2020 Chest foundation grant.

Celebrations

Cynthia Kim, MD (class of 2016) welcomed her first daughter Madelyn Kim on 10/31/2019. She just turned 1 year old.

Jonathan Galli, MD (class of 2017) welcomed his second daughter Sofia Bobbie on 11/16/20.

Yaniv Dotan, MD (class of 2018) worked at St. Luke’s Pulmonary and Critical Care Associates in Allentown, Pennsylvania after graduation and moved back to his home country Israel in the summer of 2020.

Obituaries

Nishant Goel, MD (class of 2013)

He was born on October 3, 1981 and passed away on August 20, 2019 in Brandon, Florida.
