On June 10th, the Temple Health LGBTQ Inclusive Care Alliance—comprised of team members from our Health System and the Lewis Katz School of Medicine—gathered in Katz’s Medical Education and Research Building (MERB) for a Pride month celebration.
“Pride is about the shared belief that everyone deserves to be seen, heard, and valued for who they are,” said Amy Goldberg, MD, FACS, The Marjorie Joy Katz Dean of the Lewis Katz School of Medicine. “As a Temple family, we are committed to making sure everyone has access—not just to opportunity, but to care, to community, and to a sense of belonging.”
Dean Goldberg was introduced by Robert Bettiker, MD, FACP, MGA, Professor of Medicine at Katz, who she celebrated for his role as Co-Director of the Temple Health LGBTQ Inclusive Care Alliance. In addition to Dean Goldberg and Dr. Bettiker, the event also included remarks from Laura Douglass, MD, Assistant Professor of Urology at Katz, and Alireza Hamidian Jahromi, MD, Assistant Professor of Surgery at Katz. Dr. Hamidian Jahromi highlighted our exceptional adult LGBTQ care, and thanked our leaders and team members for their expertise.
“I’m proud to be on a team that realizes that this is lifesaving care,” said Ellie Wasserman, LSW, Program Manager of our Adult Gender-Affirming Surgery Program.
