Temple University Hospital - Jeanes Campus has been named one of America’s 250 Best Hospitals, placing it in the top 5% of hospitals in the United States and making it an overall leader in clinical excellence, according to Healthgrades. Jeanes Campus is the only hospital in Philadelphia County to be ranked among America’s 250 Best Hospitals for five years in a row.

“Temple University Hospital - Jeanes Campus is consistently recognized by Healthgrades as a top-performing institution,” said Marc P. Hurowitz, DO, MBA, FAAFP, executive director of Jeanes Campus. “We are proud of the excellent care, attention to quality, and favorable outcomes that our patients can expect when they choose us for their healthcare. This distinction reflects the hard work and dedication of everyone at our hospital.”

Healthgrades is committed to delivering what it deems the most scientifically accurate and comprehensive information about doctors and hospitals, with data insights not available elsewhere. To assess overall hospital performance, Healthgrades reviewed outcomes across more than 31 of the most common procedures and conditions.

Recipients of this award have consistently delivered better than expected outcomes for their patients. In 2021, for example, Jeanes Campus was recognized by Healthgrades as one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for cardiac, pulmonary, and gastrointestinal care.

Teams at Jeanes Campus focus on improving patient survival, readmissions, safety, satisfaction, and efficiency. Hospital leadership is devoted to ensuring an excellent patient and employee experience by meeting with nurses, support staff, and doctors to observe their efforts to deliver exceptional care.

They also meet patients receiving care to ensure that their needs have been met. In addition, the hospital makes zero harm huddles a daily priority. These 10 to 15 minute meetings are intended

to promote situational awareness by communicating safety issues with the goal of preventing harm to patients and staff.

From 2018 to 2020, patients treated in hospitals ranked as one of America’s 250 Best Hospitals had, on average, a 27.8% lower risk of dying than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive this award, as measured across 17 rated conditions and procedures where mortality is the outcome. In fact, if all hospitals as a group performed similarly to Temple University Hospital - Jeanes Campus and other 2022 Healthgrades America’s 250 Best Hospitals, 160,256 lives could potentially have been saved from 2018 to 2020, according to Healthgrades.

“It is a great achievement to be awarded as one of Healthgrades’ America’s 250 Best Hospitals,” said Brad Bowman, MD, chief medical officer and head of data science at Healthgrades. “Now more than ever, patients are learning the importance of taking control of their health and using resources like Healthgrades to find the perfect hospital and caregiver match.
