As part of its episode about lowering barriers to health care, WHYY’s The Pulse highlighted a program launched by Temple Health in collaboration with Fox Chase Cancer Center and the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University to distribute free stool-based colorectal cancer tests across the health care system. The Pulse interviewed:

  • Claire Raab, MD, President and CEO, Temple Faculty Physicians
  • Jessica Briscoe, MD, Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine, Katz School of Medicine
  • Rishabh Khatri, MD, Internal Medicine Chief Resident, Katz School of Medicine

Ana M. Gamero, PhD, FCPP, Associate Professor of Medical Genetics and Molecular Biochemistry at the Katz School of Medicine at Temple University; Julia Marino, fourth-year medical student at the Katz School of Medicine; and Evelyn González, MA, Assistant Director, Fox Chase Cancer Center’s Office of Community Outreach and Engagement, are also involved in the project, which has distributed between 500-600 fecal immunochemical tests (FIT) since launching a year and a half ago.
