Alan Cowan, PhD, Adjunct Professor in the Center for Substance Abuse Research, Professor Emeritus of Pharmacology, and Professor of Anesthesiology at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University (LKSOM), passed away on June 30 at the age of 77. The Philadelphia Inquirer published an obituary of Dr. Cowan. In addition to working as a Professor of Pharmacology at LKSOM for 44 years, he was also part of a small research team that developed the drug buprenorphine in Britain.
