The GOLD International Conference – the largest dedicated to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in the world – celebrated its 10th year on Nov. 12-13 in Philadelphia. The conference is hosted in partnership by the Temple Lung Center and the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD). Pulmonology Advisor interviewed Gerard J. Criner, MD, FACP, FACCP, Director of the Temple Lung Center and Chair and Professor of Thoracic Medicine and Surgery at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, about the 2026 GOLD Report. Key changes include newly revised chapters on exacerbation management, COPD and multimorbidity, updated vaccination guidelines and treatment algorithms, and an expanded section on case-finding. Criner also looked ahead to next year’s report and highlighted the role of biologics.
