The Philadelphia Inquirer and Philadelphia Business Journal reported on Temple University Health System’s finances as the health system released its final fiscal year 2023 results. The Health System reported a $64 million operating loss for the fiscal year that ended June 30, and a net income of $1.3 million. Among the reasons for the operating loss were higher labor costs, insurer reclassification of acute care patients to lower-reimbursed observation status, and Epic conversion costs.
