Philadelphia City Councilmember Maria Quiñones-Sánchez, who represents the city’s 7th District, announced her breast cancer diagnosis in a Philadelphia Inquirer op-ed. Councilmember Quiñones-Sánchez thanked her medical team in the Inquirer article – she mentioned that her initial testing was conducted at Temple University Hospital and that Sameer A. Patel, MD, FACS, Chief of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Fox Chase Cancer Center, provided reconstructive surgery. A few days later, she joined NBC10 and Telemundo62 to discuss her experience. The two stations also interviewed Curtis Miyamoto, MD, Associate Director for Clinical Services at Fox Chase Cancer Center at Temple University Hospital, Professor and Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, and Professor at Fox Chase Cancer Center, for his insight on breast cancer.
