On New Year’s Eve 2019, Tashawn Strother dropped off her son Walter Willis for a haircut. A short time later, she learned he had sustained a gunshot wound and was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he would undergo over a dozen surgeries and other procedures. In the podcast “Stronger Every Day: Healing After Gun Violence,” Tashawn and Walter share how that gunshot wound has changed their family’s lives. They are joined by Jessica H. Beard, MD, MPH, FACS, Associate Professor of Surgery and Director of Trauma Research at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, who has cared for Walter during his journey through recovery.
