Matt Shelak, Executive Director of Temple University Hospital - Jeanes Campus, discussed with the Philadelphia Business Journal measures taken to ensure that the emergency room at Jeanes Campus was prepared to serve the community when the Elkins Park ED closed. Measures included opening an 11-bed observation unit, a second triage room in its ED, an internal waiting room where some procedures can be started, and the launch of plans for a 3,500-square-foot addition to Jeanes' ED that will increase its number of treatment bays to 28 from 20.
