Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. Austin Davis joined federal, state and local partners to highlight a $4 million federal grant to the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) at a news conference at Temple University Hospital (TUH) on December 13th. The federal funding, a Community Violence Intervention and Prevention Initiative (CVIPI) grant through the U.S. Department of Justice, will help make Pennsylvania communities safer and prevent gun violence by expanding hospital-based violence intervention programs (HVIPs) across the commonwealth. HVIPs, including programs at TUH, provide trauma-informed care and support to individuals who have experienced violent injury while they are in the hospital and work with community-based partners to provide immediate and longer-term services and support. TUH was represented by Abhinav Rastogi, MBA, MIS, Executive Vice President of Temple University Health System and President and CEO of TUH and Scott P. Charles, MAPP, FCPP, Trauma Outreach Manager of TUH. Multiple media outlets highlighted the news including Fox 29, the Philadelphia Tribune, KYW Newsradio and Impacto, among others.
