Nieman highlighted the first-ever Better Gun Violence Reporting Summit, which Jessica H. Beard, MD, MPH, Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Trauma and Surgical Critical Care at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, helped organize and moderate. The publication featured some of Dr. Beard’s remarks at the summit as well as some key takeaways for media outlets reporting on gun violence. Dr. Beard was joined at the event by 11 residents and faculty members from Temple’s Emergency Medicine Department and Scott Charles, Trauma Outreach Coordinator at Temple University Hospital.
