The News Journal prominently featured the story of Temple lung transplant patient Helen “Honey” Gorny, who was diagnosed with pulmonary sarcoidosis and subsequently received a double lung transplant in July 2023 after waiting for almost two years. Because of Honey’s size – she is 5 feet tall – she required pediatric lungs. The News Journal also included perspective from Bilal Haider Lashari, MD, MScPH, Assistant Professor of Clinical Thoracic Medicine and Surgery at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, and Yoshiya Toyoda, MD, PhD, Surgical Director of Thoracic Transplantation at Temple University Hospital.
