Medscape highlighted research presented at CHEST by Parth M. Rali, MD, FCCP, Director of the Temple University Health System Pulmonary Embolism Response Team (PERT) Program and Section Temple Lung Pulmonary Vascular Disease Program, on new interim data from the PHINDER study, which showed that elevated mean pulmonary artery pressure and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) were associated with increased mortality risk among individuals with interstitial lung disease (ILD) and pulmonary hypertension (PH). He emphasized that the goal is for the final results of the PHINDER study to be used to develop a validated tool for earlier detection of PH in patients with ILD.
