View All News

WFMZ highlighted a memorable session at Temple Health’s 2025 Kidney Transplant Symposium where a kidney transplant recipient and her altruistic living donor met for the first time. Patient Tiffany Weigle elected to donate her kidney to resolve her nutcracker syndrome, a rare condition that can cause chronic pain. Patient Christy King was the recipient of Tiffany’s otherwise healthy organ to manage her kidney disease. Antonio Di Carlo, MD, CM, FACS, FRCSC, Chief of Abdominal Organ Transplant Surgery at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, performed Christy’s transplant and explained to WFMZ how kidney disease affects patients. Kenneth Chavin, MD, MBA, PhD, FACS, Director of the Abdominal Organ Transplant Program at Temple University Hospital, performed Tiffany’s surgery to remove her kidney.
