Dr. Timothy Cashman Offers Perspective to Flow Space on Study of Women With Aortic Regurgitation

A new study published in JAMA Cardiology found that compared to men, women with aortic regurgitation signaled trouble earlier, but they had a higher risk of death because they didn’t meet existing thresholds for surgery as their risk actively increased. Timothy Cashman, MD, PhD, Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, explained to Flow Space that the findings are a reminder that women are often overlooked when it comes to heart disease risk.
