Sharon J. Herring, MD, MPHAssociate Professor of Medicine, Obstetrics & Reproductive Sciences, and Clinical Sciences at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, spoke to the Temple News about the five-year, $3.47 million grant awarded to a Temple-led research team from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases of the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Herring is the principal investigator on the grant. Together with Women, Infants and Children (WIC), Dr. Herring and the team will use social media, texting and other technology to reach new mothers and help them monitor their weight following pregnancy.
