Seyedmohammad Pourshahid, MD, MPH, Medical Director of Pulmonary Rehabilitation at Temple University Hospital-Main Campus and Assistant Professor of Clinical Thoracic Medicine and Surgery at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, offered insight to Medscape on two new studies which showed that respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infections were associated with significantly increased risk for complications beyond pulmonology, including poor kidney outcomes and cardiovascular conditions. The studies were published in Influenza and Other Respiratory Viruses and Clinical Infectious Diseases.
