Neena Mohan, MD, Director of Barrett's Esophagus and Esophageal Research in the Temple Esophageal Disease Program, provided commentary to MedPageToday on gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) research presented at Digestive Disease Week 2026. The prospective randomized study found that consecutive transoral incisionless fundoplication (cTIF), a less invasive treatment option for GERD, resulted in similar improvements in symptoms and quality of life with less dysphagia compared with gold-standard surgical therapy.
