Michael E. Selzer, MD, PhD, Professor of Neural Sciences and Professor in the Shriners Hospitals Pediatric Research Center at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, provided expert commentary to Neurology Today on a paper published online in Nature Medicine about epidural electrical stimulation (EES) that has enabled three individuals with complete sensorimotor paralysis to stand, take steps, cycle and swim with support. Dr. Selzer was not involved in the study.
