Menachem Leasy, MD, Interim Chair and Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, and Delana Wardlaw, MD, who practices at Temple Physicians, Inc. at Nicetown, were guests on the KYW Newsradio “Bridging Philly” podcast, where they discussed new research published in JAMA Network Open that shows life expectancy for African-Americans improves when they live near Black doctors. Dr. Leasy and Dr. Wardlaw also discussed their journeys into the medical field, strategies for increasing the number of Black doctors entering the profession, and the challenges that Black doctors and Black patients face.
