Krunal Patel, MD, a Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellow at Temple University Hospital, spoke with AJMCTV at the ATS conference about new research on improving pulmonary embolism (PE) outcomes in intermediate-risk patients. Dr. Patel and the research team found that earlier intervention is beneficial for patients with PE, even in those with intermediate risk. Dr. Patel told Medscape and AJMCTV that this highlights the need to update the current classification system to incorporate advanced therapies like mechanical thrombectomy.
