Julia Burger, MD, Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, provided insight to Medscape on two new studies presented at a global conference sponsored by the Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) Foundation. The first study found that the protective effects of intestinal parasites against RSV in infants may inform prevention strategies. The second study confirmed kids are the primary transmitters of RSV infection in the community because of their higher viral loads and longer viral shedding durations.
