Jeffrey D. Henderer, MD, Dr. Edward Hagop Bedrossian Chair and Professor of Ophthalmology at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, spoke with PhillyVoice about the dangers of looking at the sun without the appropriate safety glasses. A solar eclipse will occur on April 8 and viewing the eclipse without the appropriate safety glasses can cause solar retinopathy, which occurs when light energy damages the retina.
