Jason Gallagher, PharmD, FCCP, FIDSA, BCPS, Clinical Professor at the Temple University School of Pharmacy, Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Infectious Diseases at Temple University Hospital and Director of the Postgraduate Year Two Infectious Diseases Residency at the Temple University School of Pharmacy, discussed new legislation that will go into effect in California next July in an article for the December issue of Contagion Live. The law will allow pharmacists to dispense up to a 60-day supply of antiretrovirals for either pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) or post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) without a prescription in certain circumstances.
