Dr. Jamie Garfield Provides Perspective for Medscape Article on AABIP Presentation on Ultrasound for Percutaneous Biopsy of Thoracic Lesions

Jamie Garfield, MD, Professor of Thoracic Medicine and Surgery at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, provided perspective for a Medscape article on data presented at the Annual Conference of the American Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology (AABIP) which found ultrasound is a viable option for percutaneous biopsy of thoracic lesions in certain patients. Garfield, who was not involved in the study, emphasized that ultrasound should not replace CT-guided biopsy, but expands the procedural options in cases where carefully selected lesions are visible on ultrasound and is especially appealing for certain subsets of patients.
