Jamie Garfield, MD, Professor of Thoracic Medicine and Surgery at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, provided perspective for a Medscape article on data presented at the Annual Conference of the American Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology (AABIP) on an AI-based radiomics tool versus genomic sequencing for risk stratification of incidental pulmonary nodules. While the data showed the AI-based radiomics tool was significantly more effective, Garfield emphasized the findings should be interpreted with caution, and that the tests should not be considered interchangeable. Garfield was not involved in the study.
