Jacqueline Burnell, MD, Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, provided perspective for a Medscape article on a study presented at the annual meeting of the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT) which found rapid-growing nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) were strongly associated with death or re-transplantation in adult lung transplant patients. Burnell was not involved in the study.
