Gerard Criner, MD, FACP, FACCPChair and Professor of Thoracic Medicine and Surgery at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University and Director of the Temple Lung Center, offered expert insight to KYW Newsradio for a report on the Hemolung Respiratory Assist System and the VENT-AVOID Trial. Temple University Hospital has joined the trial, which will evaluate the device as an alternative or supplement to invasive mechanical ventilation for patients who have acute COPD exacerbations that require respiratory support.
