New data presented at the CHEST Annual Meeting suggest that tuberculosis (TB) trends in the U.S. reflect immigration patterns of movement to metro and low-income areas. Eric Altneu, MD, an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, who was not involved with the study, explained to Medscape that the new data demonstrates the known disparity of worse health outcomes among individuals with lower socioeconomic status.
