New research that will be presented at the upcoming American Heart Association’s 2025 Scientific Sessions suggests a link between longer-term melatonin use to treat insomnia with a higher risk of heart failure. Eman A. Hamad, MD, Director of the Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Program at Temple University Hospital, explained to Flow Space the limitations of the study and shared tips for better sleep hygiene for those looking to decrease melatonin use.
