Dr. Cherie Erkmen, Patient, and Patient’s Cousin Featured in Podcast Segment about Screening for Lung Cancer

Cherie P. Erkmen, MD, Professor of Thoracic Medicine and Surgery and in the Center for Asian Health at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University and Director of the Thoracic Surgery Residency Program and the Lung Cancer Screening Program at Temple University Hospital; patient Ida Pittman; and Ida’s cousin Helena Price, spoke with the Tradeoffs podcast as part of a segment on screening for lung cancer. Ms. Pittman was diagnosed with Stage 1 lung cancer late in 2020, underwent a single procedure, and was back to work within six weeks. Dr. Erkmen also shared with the podcast the work that Temple’s screening program has done within the North Philadelphia-area community to try and increase visibility and make access easier and more convenient.
