Alexander Duffy, MD, Assistant Professor of Clinical Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, explained to Peloton that a runny nose during exercise may be caused by exercise-induced rhinitis (EIR), which is when any kind of physical activity causes a runny nose or sneezing due to physical activity, regardless of factors like air quality.
