Ajaykumar D. Rao, MD, MMSc, FACP, Chief of the Section of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, provided perspective to Everyday Health about a new study published in JAMA which showed taking the diabetes medication metformin everyday for six months lowered pain levels, eased stiffness and improved knee function in people who are overweight or have obesity. Dr. Rao was not involved in the study.
