Ajaykumar D. Rao, MD, MMSc, FACP, Chief of the Section of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, provided perspective for an Everyday Health article on new research which suggests Black and Latinx people are less likely than white people to be prescribed glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1s), which can greatly help with regulating blood sugar and managing chronic conditions such as type 2 diabetes and obesity, even though there’s a higher incidence of diabetes in those populations.
