Rao, MD, MMSc, FACP, Chief of the Section of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, offered insight to WHYY for an article about the Inflation Reduction Act and the cost of insulin. The act lowers out-of-pocket costs for Medicare recipients and sets a $35 cap on insulin co-pays. Dr. Rao discussed solutions beyond the act, including approval of several generic insulins and new non-insulin therapies for patients with Type 2 diabetes.
