Ajaykumar D. Rao, MD, MMSc, FACP, Chief of the Section of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, offered insight to Medscape on a new study published in Arthritis Care & Research, which found that patients with type 2 diabetes and high levels of pain from knee osteoarthritis are 40 percent less likely to achieve glycemic control. Rao was not involved with the study.
