ConsultantLive interviewed Parth M. Rali, MD, FCCP, Director of the Temple Health Pulmonary Embolism Response Team (PERT) Program, during the American College of Chest Physicians (CHEST) Annual Meeting in Chicago about his presentation, “Bridging the Gap with Randomized, Controlled Clinical Trials in Intermediate-Risk Pulmonary Embolism.” Rali discussed the pause in new data and clinical trial insights into treating intermediate-risk pulmonary embolism (PE) over the last 10 years, and the expectation that trend will quickly change. He mentioned four randomized, controlled clinical trials and their potential impact on the treatment of PE going forward, with a balance of industry-funded and non-industry-funded clinical trials at both U.S. and European sites. Rali also participated in a few video “shorts” with ConsultantLive on catheter-directed therapy in PE and the importance of incorporating a local team of experts (PE Response Team) to understand new clinical trial data from a well-rounded perspective.
