CBS News Philadelphia highlighted Temple University Hospital performing the first heart transplant in the city 42 years ago and featured interviews with Eman A. Hamad, MD, Director of the Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Program at Temple University Hospital; Yoshiya Toyoda, MD, PhD, William Maul Measey Chair and Professor of Surgery at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University and Chief of Cardiovascular Surgery at TUH; and patient Earl Jones. Earl, who is now 60 years old, had a congenital heart defect and needed a heart transplant at age 30 back in March 2002.
