For National Donate Life Month, the Asbury Park Press featured the story of Temple patient Michele Corcione from Toms Rivers who received a lung transplant in February 2023. Though her advanced age of 69 could be considered a barrier to transplant, Corcione came to the Temple Lung Center because of the program’s success in transplantation for older adults. Rachel N. Criner, MD, Assistant Professor of Thoracic Medicine and Surgery at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, was also interviewed.
