Peer Support Group for Women with Heart Disease
The WomenHeart at Temple Support Group provides credible heart health information and social support for women at risk of or suffering from heart disease.
The support group meets every third Thursday of the month, from noon to 1:30 p.m. Lunch is provided. To register or for more information about this group, email WH-Temple@womenheart.org.
Heart Failure Support Group
A diagnosis of heart failure may leave patients and their family members feeling frightened and alone. Having someone else to talk to, someone who has experienced the same issues, may help them feel better physically, spiritually and emotionally.
The Temple Heart & Vascular Institute’s free Heart Failure Support Group offers patients the chance to share their experiences with others and learn more about their disease. Many who attend are comforted by the knowledge that they are not alone. Family members are also encouraged to attend meetings so they can learn how to cope with this disease.
The Heart Failure Support Group meets several times throughout the year. To register or for more information about this group, contact Lisa Lomax at 215-707-9259 or email email@example.com.
Smoking Cessation Support Group
The decision to quit smoking is one of the most important choices a person can make about their health. In fact, 15 years after stopping smoking, the risk of death for ex-smokers is almost the same as for people who have never smoked.
To help smokers kick the habit, Temple offers a free Smoking Cessation Support Group. This group meets monthly and offers the education and support smokers need to quit. Being part of a group of people you can relate to can help you through the process of quitting and help you stay committed to being smoke free.
The Smoking Cessation Support Group meets every Tuesday from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm. To register or for more information about this group, contact Kim Dancey-Williams, RN, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 215-707-5124.
