Heart & Vascular Research and Clinical Trials

The field of heart and vascular research is advancing rapidly, and many of the most impressive strides in prevention, diagnosis and treatment are happening at the Temple Heart & Vascular Institute. Here, researchers are unraveling the basic mechanisms of these deadly diseases, discovering novel therapies, and testing lifesaving devices.

There are two types of research activity that take place at the Temple Heart & Vascular Institute – basic science and clinical research. Much of the basic science takes place in Temple’s cardiac-focused research centers, including the Independence Blue Cross Cardiovascular Research Center, the Center for Translational Medicine, the Sol Sherry Thrombosis Research Center, and the Center for Metabolic Disease Research. Clinical research and clinical trials involving patients occurs in the exam rooms and procedure suites at Temple University Hospital.

From groundbreaking basic science to exciting clinical breakthroughs – it’s all happening at the Temple Heart & Vascular Institute.
