Yoshiya Toyoda, MD, PhD
Physician Executive, Temple Heart & Vascular Institute
One of the nation’s most respected and innovative cardiothoracic surgeons, Dr. Toyoda is highly experienced in coronary artery bypass surgery, pulmonary thromboendarterectomy, heart, lung and heart-lung transplantation, and mechanical circulatory support for end-stage heart failure. He has performed more than 800 heart, lung and heart-lung transplants, and pioneered many surgical techniques and procedures. He has published more than 500 peer-reviewed manuscripts, book chapters and abstracts. He has mentored numerous cardiothoracic surgeons who now take leadership roles nationally and internationally. He is a member of the American Association for Thoracic Surgery, Society of Thoracic Surgeons, and International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation.
Martin Keane, MD, FACC, FAHA, FASE

Dr. Martin Keane is Professor of Medicine at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University and Chief of the Cardiology Section. He also serves as Medical Director of the Temple Heart & Vascular Institute, Director of the Echocardiography Laboratories, and Director of Echocardiography Research. Dr. Keane is a recognized expert in cardiovascular imaging. Through his clinical, academic, and research leadership, he has contributed to advancing the role of echocardiography in cardiovascular medicine. His efforts emphasize innovation in imaging, risk assessment, and the integration of emerging technologies to enhance patient outcomes.
Frank Schmieder, MD, FACS
Surgical Director, Temple Heart & Vascular Institute
Dr. Frank Schmieder is Professor of Surgery at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University and Chief of Vascular Surgery at Temple University Hospital. He also serves as Surgical Director of the Temple Heart & Vascular Institute. Dr. Schmieder is an expert in vascular and endovascular surgery, with expertise in carotid, aortic, and peripheral vascular disease. His work emphasizes advanced surgical and minimally invasive techniques to improve outcomes and enhance the quality of vascular care. Through his clinical and academic leadership, Dr. Schmieder has contributed to advancing standards in vascular care across the health system.
