In its early stages, PAH does not always produce symptoms. As the condition gets worse, symptoms can include:
- Shortness of breath — at first during exercise, and eventually while at rest
 - Tiredness
 - Fainting or near fainting with exertion
 - Pain or pressure in the chest with exertion
 - Swelling in legs, ankles and/or abdomen
 - Blue tint to the skin and/or lips
 - Heart palpitations
 - Rapid pulse
