Pushing the Boundaries of Robotic Surgery

Cancer and cancer treatment had damaged the patient’s ureter. His kidney function was deteriorating. With treatment alternatives exhausted in his hometown, he traveled across the country to see Dr. Daniel Eun, a pioneer in robotic urologic surgery.

Dr. Eun developed an innovative surgical technique, exclusive to Temple, which restored full function to the patient’s kidney — returning him to his normal routine, grateful for the unique care he received at Temple.

Recognized nationally for his contributions to the advancement of robotic surgery, Dr. Eun has helped many patients who have been told they are out of options for their urologic care. He and his experienced colleagues in gynecologic, oncologic, thoracic, head and neck, colorectal and general robotic surgery are why patients from around the country look to Temple.

Leading the Field in Advanced Robotic Surgery

Temple is a major training site in the U.S. for robotic surgery, and for good reason: success depends not just on the availability of state-of-the-art robotic equipment and its sophisticated 3D imaging, but much more on the experience and skill of the surgeon.

Temple’s robotic surgeons cover many surgical specialties and routinely evaluate and operate on the most complicated and high-risk patients. Some are leading the country in the development of new surgical techniques. Patients frequently are referred from considerable distances because their challenging surgical issues cannot be addressed anywhere else in the region, including other tertiary and academic medical centers.

At Temple Health, we work every day to find solutions to complex conditions and create better options for patients.
