Temple Health has been recognized by Epic — the nation’s leading provider of electronic medical records (EMR) systems — for more fully optimizing its EMR by applying system-wide best practices that contribute to improvements in quality of care.

Epic named Temple Health to its 2026 “Honor Roll” at the Cum Laude level. This national recognition for Temple Health comes with a $418,000 grant from Epic.

“Temple Health is proud to receive Honor Roll recognition from Epic, which is widely regarded as the gold standard of electronic health record systems,” said Temple Health Chief Medical Information Officer Benjamin Slovis, MD, MA. “This achievement highlights our success in meeting Epic’s efficiency and usability standards—an investment we view as a critical foundation for elevating clinician experience and quality of patient care.”

The Epic Honor Roll Good Maintenance Grant Program encourages hospitals and health systems to maintain and better optimize their Epic EHR systems as a way of supporting better usability, streamlining workflows, and achieving improvements in quality of patient care.

Over the last year, Temple Health’s application of Epic strategies and best practices has contributed to increased system usability, streamlined documentation processes, and optimized workflows.

“Better optimizing Epic improves the efficiency of our physicians, nurses, and other clinical staff, which translates to more interaction and communication with their patients,” said Temple Health Vice President of Clinical Applications Katie Deschaine. “Every day, Temple Health’s Information Technology team is working to identify opportunities for improvement and create solutions that best optimize healthcare for our employees and the communities we serve.”
