Sharon Kurfuerst, EdD, OTR/L, FACHE, Executive Director of Temple Women & Families Hospital, has been appointed to the American Hospital Association (AHA)’s Committee on Maternal and Child Health, reflecting both her leadership in launching and operationalizing Temple Women & Families and her broader influence in shaping maternal and child health strategies across complex health systems.
The committee advises the AHA on maternal and child health strategies, public policy issues, and advocacy positions. Its 15 members are healthcare leaders from the nation’s top women’s and children’s health provider organizations and systems, including Texas Children’s Hospital, the Anne & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals.
Kurfuerst will serve on the committee from January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2028, helping to guide the AHA’s national policy agenda, contributing to best-practice development, and amplifying the voices of communities often underrepresented in maternal health discussions. Her insight and experience will play a meaningful role in shaping the future of maternal and child health nationwide.
