Lauren Reilly, RN, who works in the Urology department at TUH-Main Campus, was recently honored with the DAISY Award. She was singled out for her extraordinary leadership on her unit and her compassion for her patients, as this excerpt from her nomination shows:

Lauren Reilly, RN (center) celebrates her DAISY Award with her colleagues.

“Lauren was truly the best nurse I’ve ever had the privilege to work with—and to receive care from. Her kindness, compassion, and genuine concern for others shines through in everything she does. She treats every single person with dignity and respect, no matter who they are. When we were still searching for a manager in Urology, she took action and made sure everything was in order, just like a manager should. She consistently goes above and beyond, never hesitating to offer a helping hand, a listening ear, or a comforting word. The world needs more nurses—and people—like her.”

The DAISY Award was established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who passed away from an autoimmune disease. The Barnes family was awestruck by the clinical skills, caring, and compassion of the nurses who cared for Patrick, and created this international award to say thank you to nurses everywhere.
